        "content_html": "<p>From NPR Lifekit: <a href=\"https://www.npr.org/2026/02/02/nx-s1-5694017/7-kinds-of-rest-other-than-sleep\">7 kinds of rest (other than sleep)</a> each supporting different aspects of our needs for rest.</p>\n<h1 id=\"notes--examples\">Notes &amp; examples:</h1>\n<h3 id=\"physical-rest-can-be-passive-or-active\">Physical rest (can be passive or active)</h3>\n<ul>\n<li>sleeping, napping</li>\n<li>going for a walk</li>\n<li>getting a massage</li>\n<li>stretching, yoga, tai chi, qigong</li>\n<li><a href=\"https://rejevenationmovementmethod.substack.com/p/constructive-rest-the-best-way-to\">constructive rest position</a> (I&rsquo;m partial to doing this with my knees resting on a chair or couch while listening to an audiobook)</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Signs you might need it:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n<li>muscles are sore or painful</li>\n<li>tired but can&rsquo;t fall asleep</li>\n<li>relying on substances to keep you awake or help you fall asleep</li>\n</ul>\n<h3 id=\"mental-rest\">Mental rest</h3>\n<ul>\n<li>meditation</li>\n<li>time blocking</li>\n<li>pausing to follow one breath in &amp; out</li>\n<li>looking out the window / listening to sounds around you</li>\n</ul>\n<h3 id=\"emotional-rest\">Emotional rest</h3>\n<ul>\n<li>journaling</li>\n<li>playing or listening to music</li>\n<li>dancing wildly alone!</li>\n<li>body shake</li>\n</ul>\n<h3 id=\"sensory-rest\">Sensory rest</h3>\n<ul>\n<li>like a system reboot or hard reset</li>\n</ul>\n<h3 id=\"social-rest\">Social rest</h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Could be time alone or could be spending time with life-giving people who pour energy back into you.</li>\n</ul>\n<h3 id=\"creative-rest\">Creative rest</h3>\n<ul>\n<li>allowing white space</li>\n<li>boredom</li>\n<li>daydreaming</li>\n<li>spending time in nature</li>\n</ul>\n<h3 id=\"spiritual-rest\">Spiritual rest</h3>\n<ul>\n<li>volunteering</li>\n<li>meditation</li>\n<li>prayer</li>\n</ul>\n",
